Newbies – 6 Craft Beers You Need Now

So many beers- So little time… July is here and we’ve all the right beers for the season! Plus we’ve some interesting new offerings from Rogue and Southern Tier that you’ll definitely want to get your sweaty little hands on.

, Newbies – 6 Craft Beers You Need NowSAVOR Pettygrove’s Chance (Portland, Me & OR) – In 1843, Francis Pettygrove won a coin toss giving him the right to name a new town in Oregon – and so he named Portland, Oregon after the port city in his home state of Maine. So when Deschutes and Allagash came together to collaborate on this 7.6% ABV Pale Ale fermented with Saison Yeast, that they brewed exclusively for the 2016 SAVOR – they decided to name it Pettygrove’s Chance, after the person who forever connected their two states.

Primed And Limed (Ridgefield, Park, NJ) – Bolero Snort Brewery took a swing at the more sessionable fruit-forward IPA recently and connected.  Bolero Snort Kow Lime Pie is a 4.9% ABV Session IPA infused with lime juices.

, Newbies – 6 Craft Beers You Need NowSun Burned Beauty (Kalamazoo, MI) -Michigan-based Gonzo’s BiggDogg Brewing has been making quite a name for themselves since they opened their doors in 2013, and we’ve a perfect example why. Taking a hop-forward approach to a style that many brewers have forgotten, Gonzo’s BiggDogg Burning Sun is a 5% ABV creamy Amber Ale that’s rich with Caramel and Victory malts. And you can get it in 16oz cans – even better!

Cherry Oh (Lakewood, NY) – New York State ranks 4th in tart cherry production so this recent Southern Tier Brewing release shouldn’t come as a total surprise. Southern Tier Cherry Gose is an 8.3% Imperial version of the German traditional brewed with tart cherry juice and, of course, salt.

, Newbies – 6 Craft Beers You Need NowW00T W00T (Escondido, CA) – Stone has just returned the 2016 version their popular 3-Way geek collaboration that Greg Koch did with Will Wheaton from Star Trek: Next Generation and Fark.com founder Drew Curtis. Stone Farking Wheaton w00tstout 2016 is a massive 13% ABV bourbon barrel-aged Imperial stout brewed with pecans and flaked rye.

Rolling Thunder Rolling Out (Newport, OR) – Rogue Ales is incorporating the spirit of their distillery by using their own barrels for aging in their latest Imperial Stout release. Brewed with eight different grains, Rogue Farm’s own Liberty and Freedom hops, plus brown sugar, dark cherries, vanilla and chocolate. Aged six months in Dead Guy Whiskey barrels, Rogue’s 11.8% ABV Rolling Thunder Imperial Stout is scheduled to debut later this week.
