Newbies – 5 Serious New Craft Beers

So many beers- So little time… Spring is fast giving way to summer and we’ve all the right beers for this season! Plus we’ve some interesting new “exotics” from Ska and Monday Night Brewing that you’ll want to get your sweaty little hands on

, Newbies – 5 Serious New Craft BeersA Black Tie Event (Atlanta, GA) – Monday Night Brewing has just released the latest from their upscale Black Tie Series and it sounds pretty damn fancy. Not quite sure why they named it, Mom Jeans, but it’s a 7% ABV Belgian-style Pale Ale that was aged in Chardonnay barrels.

Getting Peppered (Seattle, WA) – Elysian is not a brewery normally associated with Belgian-style beers, but that might be changing with their latest release. The first of three Saisons to be released this year, Elysian Saison Poivre is a 7.3% ABV Saison brewed with a blend of black, white, and green peppercorns for a decidedly urban take on a rustic tradition. Available now, on draft and in 22oz bottles

, Newbies – 5 Serious New Craft BeersExperimental Drinking (Houston, TX) – Put on your lab coats everyone, because Saint Arnolds has a new Icon Green release that used a super-experimental hop from Hop Research Center in Huell, Germany. Saint Arnold Icon Green – 7220 Pale Ale is described as an American/German Pale Ale hybrid that was brewed with a hop that until a few weeks ago was known only as Hop No. 2010/72/20, which sort of explains its name. The researchers have since named it, “Ariana,” which we gotta admit is much better.

Colorado Bred (Durango, CO) – Ska Brewing has a new release that’s sourced entirely on Colorado ingredients. Ska Hop Ivy All Colorado Ale is a hop-forward refresher brewed with local Chinook and Nugget hops harvested at Simply Grown hop farm in Palisade, and malted at Colorado Malting in Alamosa. The yeast is from the Brewing Science Institute in Woodland Park and the water is fresh snowmelt from the mighty San Juan Mountains.

, Newbies – 5 Serious New Craft BeersJava Jacked (San Diego, CA) – Green Flash just released the latest from their lite Barrelmaster’s Reserve Series and we’re pretty jacked about it. Green Flash Lustrous Frumento with Coffee is a massive 13.1% 100% bourbon barrel-aged Strong Ale, brewed with Sumatran and Brazilian coffee beans from San Diego based Mostra.
