Newbies – 5 Serious New Craft Beers

So many beers- So little time… Spring is fast giving way to summer and we’ve all the right beers for this season! Plus we’ve some interesting new offerings from Wicked Weed and Bear Republic that you’ll want to get your sweaty little hands on.

, Newbies – 5 Serious New Craft BeersExperimental Drinking (Houston, TX) – Put on your lab coats everyone, because Saint Arnolds has a new Icon Green release that used a super-experimental hop from Hop Research Center in Huell, Germany. Saint Arnold Icon Green – 7220 Pale Ale is described as an American/German Pale Ale hybrid that was brewed with a hop that until a few weeks ago was known only as Hop No. 2010/72/20, which sort of explains its name. The researchers have since named it, “Ariana,” which we gotta admit is much better.

Getting Peppered (Seattle, WA) – Elysian is not a brewery normally associated with Belgian-style beers, but that might be changing with their latest release. The first of three Saisons to be released this year, Elysian Saison Poivre is a 7.3% ABV Saison brewed with a blend of black, white, and green peppercorns for a decidedly urban take on a rustic tradition. Available now, on draft and in 22oz bottles.

, Newbies – 5 Serious New Craft BeersJust Criminal (Asheville, NC) – Wicked Weed has entered the growing fruit-flavored IPAs arena with a recent release. Wicked Weed Hop Burglar is a hop-forward 7% ABV India Pale Ale brewed with blood oranges and grapefruit zest.

Mayday / Mayday / Mayday (Ft Collins, CO) – May has arrived and the Fort Collins Brewery is returning a vintage Maibock that they’ve been celebrating annually for twelve years. Aged for over a year, this year’s vintage FCB Maibock is a 6.4% malt-forward ale with a rich complexity and a spicy caramel finish.

, Newbies – 5 Serious New Craft BeersPace Yourself (Sonoma County, CA) – Bear Republic has a brand new addition to their year-round lineup that will help you “pace yourself” when drinking. Bear Republic Pace Car Racer is a 4% ABV Session IPA that’s hopped out of its mind on Centennial, Cascade and Citra – and not apologizing for any of it.
