So many beers- So little time… June has arrived and we’ve all the right beers for this season! Plus we’ve some interesting new “exotics” from Beachwood Blendery and Baranof Island Brewing that you’ll want to get your sweaty little hands on.
Spruce Tipped (Sitka, AK) – Alaska has its own special brewing season that’s akin to Fresh hop time down in the lower 48. Spruce tips, which bloom seasonally up that way, are a key ingredient for many craft breweries like Baranof Island whose ale brewed with these conifer tips is legend. Baranof Island Sitka Spruce Ale is a 6.5% clear amber refresher with a fresh piney nose and a creamy white head.
Morning Skies (Baltimore, MD) – Heavy Seas Beer will be returning a popular Uncharted Waters Series release in July – so be ready. This year’s Red Sky at Morning is a 10% ABV Belgian-style Saison that’s been aged for 9 months in chardonnay wine barrels to give the beer a complex, dry finish. It’s Old world (wine) meets new world (beer), this time around, and possibly the best of both worlds.
Fortune Favors Funk (Long Beach, CA) – Beachwood has a new blended collaboration that they did with their friends at Sierra Nevada that scheduled for release on June 24th. Beachwood Blendery’s Fortune Favors The Funk is a Lambic-style Ale that was aged in oak barrels for over a year, then blended and dry-hopped with an experimental hop Sierra Nevada provided, known as ex-598.
Happy Anniversary Times Four! (St Paul, MN) – Summit Brewing recently released the second in their series of four anniversary beers and it’s another cause for celebration. Summit 30th Anniversary Keller Pils is a 5.1% ABV Pilsner that combines traditional German malts with that region’s newer hop varieties to deliver a spicier and more citrus finish.
The Hop Time Continuum (Baltimore, MD) – DuClaw Brewing is taking the phrase “hop forward” to a dangerous new level with their latest limited release, so of course, we’re all about it! DuClaw Hop Continuum No 4 is a massive 11% Imperial IPA brewed with Apollo, Equinox, Nugget and Mandarina Bavaria hops.
