If you read us regularly (and we can’t imagine why you wouldn’t) you know that SAVOR, one of America’s premier craft beer events, is returning to Washington, DC this weekend. Billed as an “American Craft Beer & Food Experience” there are lots of reasons why SAVOR’s so special. We touched upon some things we like about SAVOR yesterday – but we’re far from done.

Here are some more things that we enjoy about SAVOR

Just as how you feel about a beer that you’re drinking, can be colored by its label art or packaging – where you throw a beer festival matters big-time. And Washington DC’s National Building Museum which is home to this year’s SAVOR is nothing short of spectacular. The Great Hall where most of everything takes place is an extraordinary setting, with towering Corinthian columns and a four-story atrium. It’s just a brilliant location for SAVOR and it enriches the entire experience.

The Food

SAVOR celebrates America’s growing interest in the pairing of craft beer with food and this year’s food is again being overseen by the Brewers Association’s Executive Chef, Adam Dulye in collaboration with Occasions Caterers. Co-owner and Chef of San Francisco’s The Monk’s Kettle and The Abbot’s Cellar, Dulye has built a reputation for his pairing instincts and he’ll put those skills to work at SAVOR creating dynamic dishes to complement the distinct flavor profiles of the beers that you’ll be sampling…

And in addition to SAVOR’s ever-popular artisan cheese an and oyster bar, DC.’s own Red Apron Butcher will be presenting a variety of artisanal charcuterie paired with craft beer presented by FATE Brewing this year.

It all starts with the beer at SAVOR and this weekend’s “American Craft Beer & Food Experience” is no exception. This year’s attendees will be able to enjoy beers from 76 small and independent American craft breweries, hailing from 28 different states and Washington, DC – and representing every region of the country. The industry’s biggest names are always front and center at SAVOR -whether at the private Salons or serving up beer in the Great Hall. They’re available and always willing to talk about their breweries and their beers – and that’s part of what makes these evenings so unique and exciting.
