John Maier’s Beard on Tour!
Maier and bikes will accompany Beard at many of the appearances.
Rogue Wire Service has announced that John Maier’s Beard is currently touring and that Rogue Ales brewmaster, Jon Maier, may be opening for the Beard at many of these appearances. It’s being billed as John’s Beard Tour, to capitalize on the popularity of Maier’s beard- the source of the wild yeast being used to brew New Crustacean and thought by many to be the first beard beer ever!
The tour opened in Seattle on June 21st when the Beard made a surprise appearance at the capacity-only AHA convention. That widely acclaimed appearance was followed up by sold-out stints at Issaquah Brewhouse, the Latona Pub and a speech at the Gala Rouge dinner.
Last week the Beard and Maier added bikes to their entourage, joining Cycle Oregon and making stops at Philomath, Alsea Falls, Bellfountain, Peoria, Harrisburg, Brownsville and Corvallis!
The Beard’s next appearance (with Maier, sans bikes) will be at the Oregon Brewers Festival Breakfast on July 26th! On Friday, July 27th, the Beard can be seen at McMenamins Edgefield for the Sasquatch BrewAm Golf Tournament. Anticipation is running at a fever pitch as rumors have been circulating that the legendary Sasquatch might make a rare appearance and accompany the Beard and Maier at the event!
September 9th marks the second leg of the Beard Bike Tour. This tour begins at the Rogue Public House on Pier 39 in Astoria, Oregon, as part of the Amgen People’s Coast Classic, and ends six days later in Brookings.
When Maier’s Beard is off the road, it lays low to concentrate on its growth, showing up occasionally in Newport, Oregon as part of the regular brewery tours.
