We don’t know about the rest of you, but we’re stoked DC Beer Week is upon us yet again. If you’ve seen an events calendar lately, then you know the depth and variety of options taking place all over. Well, we decided to do some of the legwork for you so that you can do what you’re supposed to do on this fine week – drink SERIOUS BEER.
First of all, if you haven’t already visited every single DC brewery – you are seriously blowing it and missing some of the best beer out there. Take a trip to DC Brau, Right Proper, Bluejacket, Chocolate City, Atlas, or 3 Stars – this week, no excuses!
If you already frequent these fine establishments, here’s a short list of our must-hit events for the week.
TUESDAY
- DC homeboys DC Brau are taking the week as seriously as possible – with a pinball tournament at Lyman’s Tavern.
- Samuel Adams is bringing their A-game, not just because it’s DC Beer Week, but also because it’s their 30th anniversary. Celebrate with them by trying some of their rarest collections, including the coveted Utopias, and noshing on some excellent grub provided by more than 20 stellar restaurants at Long View Gallery.
WEDNESDAY
Churchkey’s always on their game, but this time, they’re taking it to the next level by inviting Funky Buddha Brewery to bring their delicious brews to DC. In addition to a phenomenal and extremely rare tap list, you’ll be able to rub shoulders with the co-founders, KC and Ryan Sentz.
Celebrate many of this country’s great breweries in one place as RFD
THURSDAY
- A blind taste-off with hard-to-find IPAs? We’re ready – are you? Join our friends DCbeer.com, Scion Restaurant, and Crios Modern Mexican for Blind and Bitter, a battle between the hoppiest selections from two dozen breweries.
- It’s 4:20 all night long as The Black Squirrel hosts Rocky Mountain High: Colorado Joint Beer Event, featuring Oskar Blues, Great Divide, Left Hand, Epic, Avery, and Breckenridge. That’s all we can legally say about this event – for now, anyway.
FRIDAY
For those of you who have been slacking off and taking it easy during the week, now’s the time to shine. Lucky for you, events are still raging, and here are the ones you’d be stupid to miss.
- Churchkey once again throws down with a craft beer extravaganza from across the pond featuring the cutting-edge Siren Craft. From the sound of the brews available (including a collab between Siren and Cigar City called Caribbean Chocolate Cake), we can’t think of a better way to cap off an extraordinary week.
- Catch up on lost time if you’ve had a rough week or get your fill before the curtain closes at the second annual Brewhaha. This craft beer throwdown, held in the atrium at Old Ebbit, is a true celebration of local food and local beer. Party hard from 8 to 11 – the $50 ticket includes all the food and beer you can ingest.
- All this drinking calls for some munchies – and no one does late-night grub like GBD on Connecticut Ave. A variety of Breckenridge brews will be paired with decadent GBD doughnuts, their crave-worthy fried chicken, and other snacks all night long.
