Homebrewers Unite For The Great American Toast

Our Friends at the American Homebrewers Association asked us to remind you that their annual Great American Toast will be taking place this Saturday. Everybody here at the American Craft Beer compound is 100% in and we hope that you’ll raise a glass along with us…

, Homebrewers Unite For The Great American ToastHere’s The Deal

In honor of National Homebrew Day which falls every year on May 7th, the American Homebrewers Association (AHA) celebrates the AHA Big Brew on the first Saturday in May.

So tomorrow, hundreds of bars, breweries, shops and clubs all over the country will host their local communities to brew on-site for a national, same-day homebrewing session. And homebrewers and beer lovers, from coast to coast, are encouraged to raise a glass of homebrew in a simultaneous toast to celebrate to homemade beer, mead and wine and those who brew it.

When’s The Toast?

The AHA has informed us that the simultaneous toast will occur at 12:00 pm CDT which is usually when we begin drinking on Saturdays anyway. The good news is that this is an all day long celebration – so you can power-pound homebrew beers for the next 12 hours without anyone calling you out.

Where’s It Happening?

As we’ve already explained, this celebration is taking place all across the country this Saturday, May 3rd, but since this is a homebrew toast it probably makes sense to be hanging with someone who actually homebrews (and is willing to share). The American Homebrewers Association has also provided us with a complete list of AHA Big Brew event locations across the country.

What Are We Celebrating Again?

There are over 1.2 million homebrewers in the United States. With one in every 200 adults in the U.S. now crafting their own beer, homebrewing has become one of the country’s fastest growing activities. AHA Big Brew is a toast to the nation’s homebrewers and their shared love and appreciation for homebrewed beer, mead and wine.

In 2013, 8,500 people celebrated the AHA National Homebrew Day at 383 registered sites. Additionally, 2,200 batches created 17,000 gallons of homebrew enjoyed around the world. Last year, 49 U.S. states and 14 countries participated.

We expect all those numbers to grow at this year’s celebration – but you need to join in and do your part!
