Holiday Newbies

So many seasonal beers…And too many holiday parties…With some of the coldest weather of the season all around us, and Thanksgiving just around the corner – the winter holiday season is officially on. Yesterday, we delved into 5 Winter Ales You Need To Survive the Holidays – but we’re not even close to done!

So welcome to Holiday Newbies – now get ready to drink “naughty and nice.”

, Holiday NewbiesFoolish Behavior (South Burlington, VT) – Magic Hat Brewing recently shipped out their 2014 Holiday seasonal – so be ready. Magic Hat Feast Of Fools Raspberry Stout is a 6% ABV treat brewed for long cold nights and midnight fires. It’s out there now (in 22 oz. bombers) but it won’t be forever, so you know what to do.

Brewed to Cheer (Baltimore, MD) – Heavy Seas Beer just released the newest from their Uncharted Waters Series and it’s perfectly timed to coincide with the winter holidays. 2014’s Heavy Seas Yule Tide is an enormous 9% ABV Weizen Dopplebock aged in Jamaican rum barrels and this one is brewed to cheer.

, Holiday NewbiesMaking Merry Sammy-Style (Boston, MA) – Sam Adams has just shipped their special holiday brew so be ready to make merry. Samuel Adams Merry Maker is a 9% ABV Gingerbread Stout brewed with an abundance of cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, ginger, and the intention to make some mischief.

, Holiday NewbiesA Fresh Hop Holiday (Chico, CA / Mills River, NC) – One of our favorite holiday beers from Sierra Nevada recently became available – and it’s a “go-to” classic. Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale is one of the earliest examples of an American-style IPA and one of the few hop-forward holiday beers. Famous for its intense citrus and pine aromas, Celebration is bold and intense, featuring Cascade, Centennial, and Chinook hops– and because it’s a fresh hop – it’s subtly different every year!

Wintering Down South (Atlanta, GA) – SweetWater Brewing has rolled out their special holiday seasonal as well and this year’s release drinks big! SweetWater’s 2014 Festive Ale is an 8.5% ABV spiced Strong Ale that’s a malt-forward celebration of winter, with hints of cinnamon and mace.
