Good Books – Party Like A President

AmericanCraftBeer.com delivers craft beer news and lifestyle 24/7. We view this business as entertainment and we cover it that way. And maybe that’s why we’re constantly being hit up by different media groups asking us to share with our readers – everything from hangover cures and beer-related products, to new music, movies, and books….And yes, we get lots and lots of books to review.

So welcome to another edition of “Good Books” and since today is President’s Day, we thought we’d review the only book that we’ve ever received that had anything to do with Presidents…and surprisingly, it was wonderfully deranged fun.

, Good Books – Party Like A PresidentParty Like a President is a hilarious mashup of history and humor that dishes the dirt on oval office escapades and makes it clear that the Clinton-Lewinsky thing was just the latest in a long tradition of presidential missteps that includes acts of wanton drunkenness, rampant lechery, and reckless mischief.

Celebrating the decidedly less distinguished side of the nation’s leaders, humor writer Brian Abrams takes readers on a historical and well-researched tour of presidential antics and stories that we promise you never heard in school.

Who knew that some of our nation’s greatest leaders partied like wasted frat boys?

George Washington frequently put away three to four glasses of Madeira with lunch. No wonder he could never tell a lie… it’s a miracle he could even talk.

FDR liked to throw toga parties and was notorious for his cocktails, and Harry Truman hit up the Old-Granddad every morning “just to get the engine going.”

John Mathias, whose pictures have appeared in the New York Times and the Washington Post, illustrates these stories with a swagger that only enriches the mix and each presidential profile is accompanied by a drink inspired by the president (and his antics) – so there’s that.

Brian Abrams’ “Party Like a President” is history like we like it – the truth served up with an intoxicating chaser. Seldom has the historical been more hysterical  or our presidents more fun.
