NYC Beer Week 2016 returns this Friday for 10 days (Feb 19th-28th) of serious beer fun. This year’s celebration will feature over 400 fantastic events – and I’ve picked eight that you absolutely don’t want to miss…

SimulTap Beer Week Launch (Fri. Feb. 19th)

At 7pm, dozens of bars and restaurants around NYC will simultaneously tap their SMASH (state malt and state hop) beers. Made using only local and state ingredients, NY breweries created a grouping of what should be some very interesting beers. I’ll be enjoying some at Jimmy’s No. 43.

NYCBW Opening Bash Cruises (Sat. Feb. 20th)

Is there a better way to kickoff a beer week than with a floating beer tasting and harbor tour? Featuring 30 of NY State’s premier breweries as well as 5 NYC restaurants, the fully enclosed and heated Nautical Empress will ensure amazing views of the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, The Brooklyn Bridge and NYC Skyline.

There are two cruises that depart at 1pm and 5pm. – Tickets

, Eight NYC Beer Week Events You Don’t Want To MissFried Chicken and Donuts Brunch (Sun. Feb. 21st)

This is about perfect as events come. Wake up from your hangover and get yourself to The Redhead from 11am-4pm to enjoy Underwest Donuts and an Other Half Brewing Tap Takeover. A little hair of the dog always helps.

And you can reserve your seat here

NYCBW Kickoff Panel (Sun. Feb 21st)

DBGB Kitchen and Bar is hosting industry experts, Kelly Taylor (KelSo owner, President of Brewers Guild), Garrett Oliver (Brooklyn Brewery Brewmaster), Benjamin Weiss (The Bruery, Director of Brand Marketing) with Jimmy Carbone (Jimmy’s No. 43 Owner, Beer Sessions Radio Host) acting as the moderator. It’s sure to be an enlightening conversation on the current state of the industry and where it’s headed. Tickets

, Eight NYC Beer Week Events You Don’t Want To MissBrewer’s Choice (Wed. Feb. 24th)

Located at Sanders Studios in Brooklyn, the Brewer’s Choice event will feature 40+ beers being poured by the brewers themselves and then paired with food provided by 15+ food purveyors. This is considered to be one of the best running beer events in NYC so don’t miss out! Tickets

NYCBW Cask Fest and Awards Gala (Sat. Feb. 27th)

The closeout event for NYCBW should be a great one. This event features 150 cask beers from around the state, 5 top NYC restaurants, and a brewers lounge where drinkers can chat with the brewers. There will also be awards given for People’s Choice from NYCBW, including Favorite Bartender, Beer, Event and NYS Brewery. The event will be broken up in 2 sessions (1pm-4pm, 6pm-9pm) including a VIP session that starts an hour earlier. Tickets

, Eight NYC Beer Week Events You Don’t Want To MissSensory Evaluation for Beer Lovers (Sun. Feb. 28th)

While your palate may be in shock from a full week of drinking, this event will certainly be one everyone can enjoy. From The Wine Lab “Get to know your taste buds and olfactory receptors with a series of experiments geared towards fine-tuning your beer palate.  You will learn how to identify the specific positive and negative tastes and aromas in beer and at the end of class, you will test your newly found skills with a beer tasting.”  Tickets

Brooklyn Brewery Summer in Winter Party (Sun. Feb. 28th)

I think we can all agree it’s time for winter to be over after the weather in the Northeast this past weekend. Brooklyn Brewery is lighting up Webster Hall with music, dancing and, the main attraction, great beer. There will be cans of Brooklyn’s American Ale and first run of Summer Ale 2016. As if that wasn’t good enough, if you bring a coat to donate to NY Cares, you’ll be entered to win a Brooklyn prize pack. Tickets
