Dallas Beer Kitchen: The “Best Damn Thing”

After traveling the world searching for the best life had to offer, a group of friends returned home to Dallas, TX, and opened a restaurant in one of the city’s most diverse and eclectic neighborhoods. Former bloggers turned restaurant owners Bryan Kaeser and Joe Scribner have shifted their passion from the pen to the pint in their mission to provide Dallas with one of the most inventive and thoughtful craft beer and comfort food establishments – Dallas Beer Kitchen.

, Dallas Beer Kitchen: The “Best Damn Thing”“[The blog] was the catalyst for this place,” said Joe. “When we started the blog for fun, we would travel a lot together, always looking for the best beer and the best food. And we tried to review only the best…that is why we called [the blog] “Best Damn Things.” So in our travels, [the best] has always been our inspiration for what you see right here, Dallas Beer Kitchen. From the selection of the food and beer, atmosphere, and service, [the restaurant] was inspired by all the places we felt were great.”

It has been a busy month for the owners since their June opening. As Joe and Bryan have discovered, creating a restaurant concept is a much different beast to tackle than running a blog, especially when you’re aiming to be the best. But their out-of-the-gate success is proving that they’ve got what it takes to thrive.

Bryan’s heightened emphasis on maintaining a stellar beer list is one way in which Dallas Beer Kitchen stands apart. In addition to 30 rotator taps of some of the best craft brews in the nation, including many local favorites, the extensive bottle selection rivals no other independently owned pub in the Dallas area. As a seasoned craft beer connoisseur, I was impressed by the diverse representation of breweries I love and those that are new to me.

“We have 30 taps of some hard-to-find stuff. We are carrying both local and national brands that you don’t see everywhere or all at once,” explained Bryan.

If you are new to craft beer or just want to try something different, no need to be overwhelmed by the selection. The staff of Dallas Beer Kitchen was just as carefully selected as the beer, and they can properly and with enthusiasm recommend a brew for every palate. It was refreshing to have such great service and to speak with a staff that was knowledgeable about their products and shared the same passion for craft beer.

, Dallas Beer Kitchen: The “Best Damn Thing”The beer is great, but where Dallas Beer Kitchen really shines is with their menu selections. Created by Joe, the menu pays homage to classic bar food by elevating it with fresh ingredients and new vibrant flavors.

“This food was inspired by those times when [Bryan and I] were out drinking and what food we had,” said Joe. “So we wanted to give people the best [food] you would want in a cool atmosphere with great beer. We do have future plans for food pairings and even food flights to go with the beer flights.”

I would recommend the grilled chicken wings tossed in the chile-lime sauce – the subtle spiciness with a hint of lime has me craving them even now. For dessert, try the pop tarts and ice cream – it is sweet and, oddly enough, pairs well with beer (who knew?!).

With its carefully selected craft beer menu, a knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff, and some killer menu items, Dallas Beer Kitchen is in the game to provide the best craft beer, the best menu, and the best service in town. Here’s to continued success for many years to come!
