Breaking News – Duvel Moortgat Refuses To Purchase American Craft Beer LLC

After months of totally unfounded speculation, it appears that Belgian beer giant Duvel Moortgat’s recent buying spree may be over for now.
They’ve done their due diligence and have smartly decided not to purchase AmericanCraftBeer.com.

Considered one of the industry’s most passionate advocates, American Craft Beer (ACB) has been covering the nation’s emerging craft beer industry fearlessly since they burst upon the scene in 2010. They’ve a ravenous national following in the states nowadays (their “dangerous hopheads”) and a growing international audience as well.

, Breaking News – Duvel Moortgat Refuses To Purchase American Craft Beer LLCACB was founded by Tom Bobak, a record label professional, who’s spent more than 25 years working with rock music’s biggest names. Known for his tireless work ethic, yet plagued by rumors of all-night parties and questionable relationships, he left the music industry in 2009 to launch the renegade craft beer site that has been seen (primarily by the ACB staff) as a likely target for Duvel Moortgat’s growing craft beer holdings.

Never shy about shooting from the hip, or about dropping the occasional “F-bomb” when called for, ACB grew quickly, attracting craft beer’s disenfranchised younger demos (who really had nowhere else to go), as well as its more dangerous fringe elements, many of whom remain under house arrest.

Beloved by many, but hated by the industry’s more conservative right, they’ve garnered a huge reputation for speaking “truth to power” even when it might endanger the free beer that they regularly receive.

No word as to whether last Thursday’s announcement, that Firestone Walker had entered into a partnership with Duvel Moortgat, played any part in that company’s icy refusal to acknowledge that they would ever consider aligning themselves with a dubious “fly-by-night” like American Craft Beer LLC – let alone return even one of ACB’s many calls.
