AMERICAN CRAFT BEER’S QUICK HITS – 2014 CRAFT BREWERS CONFERENCE EDITION

We blame the industry for this… It used to be that when we wrapped up our Weekend Picks on Friday, we could coast through the weekend. There was little need to check in for updates -things were pretty much done. But clearly all that’s changed. And with the Craft Brewers Conference taking place in Denver this week, there’s more news than ever coming over the wire…

So here’s some of what’s happened in the world of craft beer while you were off enjoying yourselves.

, AMERICAN CRAFT BEER’S QUICK HITS – 2014 CRAFT BREWERS CONFERENCE EDITION2014 Craft Brewers Conference Commemorative Beer (Denver, CO) – 145 members of the Colorado Brewers Guild have collaborated on a special commemorative beer that will be widely available at this year’s CBC as well as at selected locations in Denver this week. Featuring all Colorado ingredients, Centennial Pale Ale was brewed at the Oskar Blues Brewery in Longmont on February 24, and we’ll be drinking a lot of them while we’re in town.

The BA Gets an Official Apparel Sponsor (Dearborn MI) – Much to the dismay of famous designers such as Milan’s Versace or New York’s Ralph Lauren, the fashion-forward folks at the Brewers Association (BA) have just announced that they’ve selected Michigan’s legendary work wear brand, Carhartt, to be their “official apparel sponsor.”Carhartt will be an active participant in the Craft Brewers Conference & BrewExpo Americain Denver this week – The Carhartt booth is #507.

, AMERICAN CRAFT BEER’S QUICK HITS – 2014 CRAFT BREWERS CONFERENCE EDITIONBig-Time CBC Announcement from the Brainiacs at White Labs (Denver CO) – Organizations as legit as White Labs are not prone to bullshitting. So when they tell us that they’ll be unveiling the first major innovation in yeast propagation in more than 100 years – they’ve got our attention. Join us at 3 pm this Wednesday at BrewExpo America’sOpen Demo Area for an announcement by White Labs’ that they’re hinting might just revolutionize the art of fermentation.

A Brave Partnership with SweetWater (Atlanta, GA) – The Atlanta Braves and SweetWater Brewing have announced that they will be playing ball with one another this summer and that SweetWater will be the exclusive craft beer partner for the 2014 season. The partnership also features a newly rebranded SweetWater Beer Island centrally located in Fan Plaza. A team of artists and engineers hired by the brewery began hand-designing a rebranding of the pavilion to emulate parts of the brewery and its culture, featuring hand-painted brick work, tie dye artwork, and a 30-foot fishing pole to reel fans in.

, AMERICAN CRAFT BEER’S QUICK HITS – 2014 CRAFT BREWERS CONFERENCE EDITIONLance Rice Brewery Tour Project Reminds us April is Autism Awareness Month (Los Angeles, CA) – Lance Rice began his Brewery Tour twelve months ago to raise awareness about autism, to share his incredible beer knowledge with the craft beer community, and to film his documentary. Before he began, he was an unknown beer historian with autism who was once afraid to speak or leave his own home. Today he is a hero and an inspiration. America’s greatest breweries, autism organizations, and families nationwide will take to Facebook, Twitter, and beyond to share one message: #BeerAutismHope! Lance’s Brewery Tour and the #BeerAutismHope movement all go to provide inspiration, scholarships, family assistance and aid to the autism community. And tomorrow, April 8, is #BeerAutismHope Day and Lance is asking that we all show our support. If you want to participate, use the above hashtag, or tag @LanceKnowsBeer on Twitter or Lance’s Brewery Tour on Facebook.
