, American Craft Beer Rumor Mill- This week’s guide to Industry News, Gossip & InnuendoThe Manhattan Project (Manhattan, KS) – In a move to solidify their position as a regional player, Tallgrass Brewing Company is making plans to triple its brewing capacity. The brewery will be acquiring an existing 60,000-square-foot building in Manhattan, Kansas, which it will convert into a brewery. Already the largest brewery in Kansas with its 2013 production exceeding 16,000 barrels of beer, Tallgrass expects to begin production at the new location in late 2014.At full capacity, the new brewery will be capable of producing 100,000 barrels or more than 3 million gallons of beer each year.

Avery and New Belgium Rooming Together (Boulder & Fort Collins, CO) – Avery Brewing Company and New Belgium Brewing announced that they’ve finalized an alternating proprietorship arrangement that will allow Avery to lease space at New Belgium’s Fort Collins facility until Avery’s new brewery opens in Boulder in January 2015.The plan is limited to a single beer – Avery White Rascal in kegs. By moving the White Rascal draft production up to Fort Collins, both time and space will be freed up at Avery’s current brewery in Boulder. Additional capacity will be used to brew more seasonal and specialty beers. The agreement with New Belgium is also limited to one year.

Atlas Brew Works and Washington Nationals Agree to Play Ball (Washington, DC) – DC’s newest production craft brewery, Atlas Brew Works, just announced a new addition to their lineup. Named after the address of Nationals Park, 1500 South Cap Lager is a 4.8% ABV American take on the traditional German Helles lager that’s being brewed exclusively for the Washington Nationals and will only be available at their ballpark.

Schlafly vs. Schlafly (St. Louis, MO) – The makers of Schlafly Beer and nationally known conservative activist and attorney Phyllis Schlafly are headed to trial “after the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office denied a request by the brewer for a judgment on the pleadings” according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

More Innovations from Flying Dog at Camden Yards’ Oriole Park (Baltimore, MD) – With Opening Day just behind us, the Baltimore Orioles are yet again proving their support for locally brewed craft beer. Flying Dog beer will once again be available all throughout Oriole Park at Camden Yards for the 2014 season and they continue to upgrade their offerings. This year, they’ll be introducing Snake Dog IPA in 16 oz. cans to the ballpark and are continuing their innovative cask-conditioned beer program on Fridays.
