10 Reasons to Drink

We all drink for different reasons. And one of the reasons why we drink at the American Craft Beer compound is to take the “edge” off of a sometimes troubling and unruly world.

Here are 10 things that worry us – and have been “driving us to drink” lately.

  1. An Impending Hop Shortage – What happens when the demand for hops supersedes what’s available and IPA prices skyrocket? We’re already seeing some warning signs out there.
  2. The Israeli-Palestinian Conflict – It’s sad and unending. And the latest conflict is unfortunately only escalating.
  3. Potential Craft Beer Bubble – A lot of other craft beer publications give us shit when we even broach this subject – but we don’t care. Something that can’t go on forever, won’t.  And we think there are plenty of reasons to worry.
  4. Ebola Outbreak in Africa – Three West African countries have already shut down their borders in an effort to contain this deadly virus. We don’t want to think about what happens if this thing starts jumping continents.
  5. Putin – Because he’s Putin.
  6. The Economy – Hey, we get that the stock market’s soaring but does everything really feel all that great to you? Thankfully, times are good for us in the craft beer industry, but other segments are struggling, and 92 million unemployed Americans no longer looking for work is hardly a positive sign.
  7. Global Warming and Cooling – Whichever way the weather’s going – we worry.
  8. Celiac Disease – In spite of the growing number  of outstanding “gluten-free” craft beers out there nowadays, we’re not sure that we’re strong enough to ever go “Heady Topper -free” … and we pray that we never have to.
  9. Real Wives of Anywhere – Please, we’re begging you – this madness needs to stop!
  10. Success Further Emboldens ACB – We’ve been growing by leaps and bounds here at American Craft Beer and we’d like to thank you all for that. But if you think this is going to make us any less petulant, you’re sorely mistaken. Bad behavior, once rewarded, can only go one way – and the craft beer industry is right to be concerned.
